I lived in El Granada a lifetime ago when the HMB/EG/MB population was half what it is today; no weekend crowds parked on HWY 1 shoulders by Sam's Chowder house. Although I will miss the bucolic life style of the old coast communities and the thrill of driving Devil's Slide in the winter, the new tunnels are gorgeous and maintain the charm of the coast highway.
