tire shop in South Bay?
Hi, I usually buy my tires at tirerack. But, I want to buy locally because maybe it is cheaper overall if they do free mount/balance.
Where can I find Dunlop Z1 Star Spec or Sumitomo HTR III for cheap price in San Jose area?

Free mount/balance . That is where shops make their money.
Guys, let me rephrase the question. I want to know if there is any route that can beat the price of the "tirerack route":
1) buy from tirerack.com, pay for shipping but pay NO sales tax.
2) ship to your favorite tire place. Have them mount and balance for $20 per tire.
Is that best that I can hope for? Or is there a place in San Jose where:
(tire + tax*tire + mount) < (tirerack + shipping + mount)?

Skip's tire is pretty good. They have a shop out on Blossom Hill and one in SJ off Capitol by the OSH on Silvercreek.

So, I thought the tire shops go with the Costco business model: charge for tire only; free mounting and balance. Apparently, that's not the case.

Give Orlando a call at Auto Innovation in Milpitas. He is a fellow S2000 owner and good guy. He has pretty good prices and he will take care of your car.
