Default Tire Newbie Question:

Hello All,

I'm looking at the rating for two tires:

Tire #1:
Bridgestone Potenza RE070
(Extreme Performance Summer)
Size: 255/40ZR17
Serv. Desc: 94W Load Index 94 = 1477lbs (670kg) per tire
Speed Rating

Rob for your daily driving -- the Ecsta MX will just fine, from what i've read in reviews -- they're comparable to the RE070. What you're "missing" is that Bridgestones are generally fairly expensive

run it by the tire section, because tire reviews are given to the tire tested on whatever car and put through whatever abuse but in the end you're an s2000 driver so reviews from someone similar will be more useful than a review by a 65 year old corvette driver thats never seen above 100mph

The bridgestones are are going to offer much more grip and an overall better construction of a tire. IMO for daily driving and some spirited moments then the MX's would be a good choice. But if you want the better tire I would go with the RE070.

I had the MX's before. Okay tire, but not even close to the performance of the 070's.

yup, i think you gota ask yourself what you are looking for,

if those tires are for daily driving go for the kumho

if you want performance get the re70

best bang for the buck, it would be sumthing else, look at the tire section they are pretty helpful!

Get the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs, Rob. Better grip and less price than the bridgestones.

Also look into Sumitomo's HTR-Z III, if want an even cheaper alternative with longer tread life; And even cheaper price. Performance will be less than RE70's, but still adequate for the S on the streets.

I think each tire company comes up with their own specs, so its kinda of relative. Not always acurate comparing across brands. Because no way RE70 has better performance than Kuhmo MX.

Nevermind, the rating is valid, but it's only for linear traction.

I'll check out the Dunlop, they are offering a $50.00 rebate.
