i took mine off and paid the $10. I was under the impression that if you get pulled over a 2nd time for the same reason you will get another $10 fix ticket. Is it not that way?? Aaron you kinda scared me there with the big fine??
my gf got a fix it ticket for tinted window by CHP on our way to Reno. We found out from our friends that the penalty is stiff after the first tinted window ticket.

its different from other nornal fix-it tickets like no front license plate. i think similar penalty applies to car pool lane. First ticket is 279.00 then second ticket is doubled then triple of the original fine

I've gotten dinged on my window tint twice here in Sonoma County and only paid $70 for it and had the option to fix it for $10 that I did not opted for. Still keeping the tint though.

Hey Aaron, did you get man handled inside a tinted car? You sound pretty upset and tight about people getting their front windows tinted. It's ok man, we're hear to listen and understand

I've been ticketed twice for tinted windows also. The first time the fine was $70 (in LA county) and the second time it was something like $100 (in Santa Clara County) to keep the tint. Both times it was the usual $10 fine if I had chosen to remove the tint. This was several years back though.

I've gotten ticked three times for tint. Twice in my VW. First time I dodged it. The officer specifically wrote the ticket in a manner that it's not a fix-it. I went to court and wanted to know why. The judged asked me if I took it off and I said yes (I didn't). Got away that time. Second time, I didn't have a choice. Cop came to my apt to sign it off so I took the tint off. Third time was in my Civic. I went to the police station to get it signed off and the cop just asked me if I took it off. Of course I still had it on there .

I would say if you wanna play it safe, stick with 50% on the fronts, rears don't matter.
