Tint Question
My son, and RSX-S owner, relocated to California a year ago and re-registered his car, license, etc. The car had tint on the windows that is legal in Texas and no one said anything during inspection.
He recently got stopped and was given a $10 ticket for the tint (since they could not prove speeding) which I guess is a fix-it ticket. The problem is that he does not want to remove the tint.
Any options or methods to duck this? Can the ticket just be paid without proof the car was changed? Do they check the VIN on an inspection?

your son needs to remove the tint as soon as possible. There is not way around it. Its a $10.00 ticket for now after he removes the tint and gets an approval from an officer. I repeat. He needs to get his tinted window removed and have an officer sign the ticket. Then its a $10.00 fix-it ticket.
here is the catch
If he decides to tint his window again and happens to get pulled over, HE WILL BE FINED A BIG TIME. (CLOSE TO $500.00 or MAYBE MORE) and he is paying that amount whether he removes the tint or not.
Its just not smart to tint your window. PERIOD

You can do two things:
1) Pay the fine when they send it to you and risk him getting pulled over again.
2) Take the tint off, get the ticket signed off by any cop, and send in $10.
What percent tint does he have? I'd say the safe one would be 35% and over. They'll usually nab you for 20% and below.

I know he won't be happy but I will advise him of the limited options.
Thanks for the feedback.

u can actually just pay the citiation fine...which will be like $150+ dollars if you decide not to fix your tint and pay $10. I've done it a couple of times.

Holy crap, is the fine that high now? When I got one years ago, the fine (if you opt to keep the tint) was only $70.

i took mine off and paid the $10. I was under the impression that if you get pulled over a 2nd time for the same reason you will get another $10 fix ticket. Is it not that way?? Aaron you kinda scared me there with the big fine??
