Thunderhill 2/8&9 - Running Both Directions - w/ Speed Ventures

Dates: Saturday Feb 8th & sunday Feb 9th

Considered by some to be the best track in California, Thunderhill is a newer 3 mile track in the hills north of Sacramento with many exciting features: elevation changes, off camber turns, very long straights, high-speed doglegs and blind corners. We will be running the full Thunderhill track with the Cyclone in the clockwise direction on Saturday (the reverse of the usual direction), and in the counter-clockwise direction with the Cyclone on Sunday. These are the same configurations the OTC will be running this spring, so this is the perfect opportunity for some Cheating Bastard Practice!

The cost of the event is $165 one day / $275 both days (+$20 per day instructor fee required for novices)

You will get your usual Speed Ventures large helping of track time and as always transponders are available for rental to measure your improvement over the course of the day.

Less see...

1300 miles, I could make it a tad over 16 hours if I can manage 80 miles an hour with gas stops. Of course that assumes no snow storms in the Sierras or Rockies on the way.

But then what about tires? Can't average 80 towing a trailer. Maybe ship the tires and wheels... Or pull the passenger seat and try to fit them in there?

Or maybe I should just fly out and watch!

pfb drive out for laguna, park your car (there are a number of spots you can), fly home. Fly back the next weekend, drive thunderhill and then head home from there.

Two of the best tracks in the west, if not us.

heh, so long as your trailer has 12" wheels and your bearings are packed well w/ lube the trailer can do 80+ sustained w/o problems.
