It takes me 60-75 minutes to get PA from my house in Dublin if I leave at 6:15 AM. Add another 30+ to get to Dublin from Tracy. Also keep in mind that East bound 580 through Dublin/Pleasanton is the 2nd worse commute in the Bay in the evening. Heading home is another 15-30 minutes longer due to leave PA around 5 PM. My guess is the round trip will take you 4 hrs on a daily basis. Sound like fun to you?

My friend drives from Stockton to SF everyday. 1 1/2 hrs on a good day. 2 - 2 1/2 hours with traffic. He drives his beater accord so the miles won't rack up on the S

Plus, when it's hot it's really hot. And when cold be sure to wear your snuggie. He loves the bay area weather

Unless you have the time it's going to be a killer drive.

Damn, I'd hate to do that. But there are guys here at work who travel 2 hours plus every day, each way.

only pro i see is that 200k will get you a 4bedroom house with a pool in the back and a 2 car garage with space for 2 more in the font where that same 200k will get you laughs for a 1 bedroom condo (600sh sqr ft) + needing to pay additional for a parking spot here in down town SF. maybe not that extravagant, but you guys get the idea...

Isnt there a Commuter lane on 580 heading both ways? or does that get packed also?

Just remember wherever you move, it's where the center of your life is. It's bound to happen.

200K difference on a house, will quickly be consumed by cars, time, gas, accidents and everything else that comes with commuting. Commuting to save money doesn't work and in the long run costs more than the extra monthly on the mortgage payment.

My drive to work is 10 miles, or 15 minutes. I buy a tank every other week. Imagine filling up every few days, buying tires, consuming the motor. If you're comfortable with the full picture go for it.
