So its ok to pass a CHP at 75-80mph as long as you have other cars passing with you? Sweet gumball rally time!!
It's pretty simple really... if the cop does not show up at court, you win; if he does, you lose. The judge will take the cop's word over yours (and your buddy's) every time, so be prepared to lose. However, as I see it, your penalty will be the same or less if you fight it and lose, and there's always the chance that the cop will flake out.
I always fight tickets if I have the time, and its never been a bad thing. I've never seen a judge lower someone's fine and also prevent them from going to traffic school. I believe it is law that you have the right to attend traffic school once every 18 months (as long as you weren't busted for "reckless driving") so I doubt that the judge could just throw that option out.

see how much it is...and potentially how much it would raise your insurance over time.
i got very lucky once in avoiding a 700+ ticket for speeding+wreckless driving+racing on the highway
i paid 40 bucks to appeal my case and the cop never showed up.
the case got dropped and i saved myself a lot of money.
who knows give it a shop and appeal it.
worst case, you'll have to pay the full amout.
