Default Tech: Longer To Warm Up a 4 Cylinder than 8?

When I'm in the EVO or S2000 I notice I need to take at least 5-8mins to warm up. The needle hovers over 2000 rpms. When I'm in the family Mercedes I start it up and within 30secs it's good to go. Why?

I think that sounds about right. More friction in the 8 cyl due to more moving parts?

a 4cylinder doesn't run as smooth as a v8 when cold. They probably both take about the same time before the oil is warm AND the engine.

On the M5 (e39/V8) the tach changes color as the engine warms up and it takes a good 10-15 mins of driving (even on freeway) before there are no bars before redline.
