Cool T1R 70-EM FTW!

I had to take my car to the ref for emissions violations and loud exhaust, so instead of swapping on a stock exhaust, I decided to see how the 70-EM SS would do. I saw GripAddict's post about taking the 70-EM Ti version in and he barely failed so I tested my luck. AP1's are measured at 6225 RPMs. Passing is 95dB +/- 1.5dB.

Mods:
Comptech Intake
OEM Cat
T1R 70-EM single, stainless steel

Sorry about the bad quality picture

sweet! I wonder if my ASM 70 would pass (it's quite a bit louder with the s/c...)

OHHHHH DAMNN! OK, might just have to jump back into one of these and get rid of the ASM! Thanks Glen for the info!

GripAddict also has a COMPTECH header. That might be the difference.

There should be a thread about "Got sent to ref for dB violation and passed w/..."

Header seems to make a big difference with db level. My car was loud w/ the T1R and header.

probably since the header is thinner guage metal some of the resonance doesn't get absorbed by the metal and goes out the exhaust as sound.

I still want to do a dB test on my exhaust before i install my header then after to see if there is a difference.

We should have a S2KI dB ref day!

my T1R 70EM was 94dB at 50ft at oakland last week.... but most of the sound came from the ITB.... that's at WOT with load, still under the CA. VC requirement.
