Did you live in or by Campbell 10-15 years ago? I remember seeing a 914 with a V8 in that area a few times. My friend owned a completely stock one and that thing was fun to drive and I'm sure the V8 made it very interesting in a good way 
You should come checkout the Milpitas meet sometime or one of the drives. The Big Sur dirve will be fun and you'll get to meet a bunch of us.

I've only driven Jei's (Blacktrax) supercharged S and that was very nice. He'd be more than happy to give you a ride in it and maybe let you drive it. I think there was something about the AP1 though? not sure if they make the kit for it yet.
