$2800 is a good deal for anyone within driving distance of Florida ~ meaningless for most of us here.....
Plus I was reading that thread - dunno about paying $250-520 for shipping - last time I got a quote it was more like $900+
I think anyone who thinks they can ship a hardtop cross-country for cheap is either smoking really good stuff or just plain ignorant. I shipped 2 trunklids from Norcal to Socal and both got destroyed even though they were well packed! Freight alone for the trunklid was $250 and that is a cheap piece of metal compared to the added weight/bulkiness of a hardtop.

^ I disagree I have had a few hardtops delivered from long beach on a common freight line for $100 each time. I would imagine 450 to 500 from florida would be going rate. Whoever the shipping company was ripped you off big time to charge that much for something like a trunk.

I also the longer the distance the higher chance of damage occurring. Common freight from socal to here would be fine with me but I probably wouldn't let it go freight from Florida.

My trunklids were shipped FEDEX ground and packed with industrial grade foam used for military grade computers. Trust me it was well packed but FEDEX still managed to destroy them.
Personally I would not trust a $3k plus hardtop to a common freight line, definitely not for a $100 bucks, was it insured?
If you know a secret way to ship hardtops safely across country for cheap, I think you would be a very rich man, seriously!
I'm planning to buy a black OEM hardtop but it's a 20 hour drive roundtrip + rental car + gas so if you do the math it's pricey for sure .
