Totally agree. Apparently there is a huge fish market in LA that is not open to the public. A lot of places in So Cal get there stuff there. They always seem to have more way variety and fresher stuff in So Cal. That said, I do eat sushi a fair amount in the Richmond. Pretty good area for the price - Kitaro for lunch, 22nd and Geary.

Has anybody been to mikado in Los altos? I'm not a big Sushie person so I don't have a great frame of reference. The only other place I used to eat it was at miyake in Palo Alto when it used to be there.

thanks everyone for the suggestions. i ended up going to Ebisu and it did not disappoint. the boston and tokyo tower rolls were hella good
