having been born & raised in SF, i've yet to find a really good sushi place up here. there a quite a few in LA/SoCal.

Kabuto is supposed to be the best in SF, but it's not a destination or special occasion type place. Ebisu was pretty good. haven't been there since they remodeled and all the hipsters invaded though. there are a couple places on the Peninsula that are popular. sorry, don't recall their names.

please don't go to AsiaSF, at least not for the sushi/food.

Ebisu. Hands down one of my favorites that doesn't break the bank. Sit in front of Tommy at the bar.

9th Avenue at Irving. In SF.
