Sunday Indy race after thought...
Well, the Indy race was OK, nothing really exciting, no big crash, Danica Patrick still didn't win or even close to the pole... but I found out something a bit strange.
Since Honda is the sole Engine provider for Indy, so obviously they have to showcase their car line up. I saw a bunch of Honda

but they don't sell too many s2ks, they'd rather concentrate on moving other models

well, in the first 7 months of this year the s2k has only made up 0.55% of total US sales for Honda. they could spend a ton of money to promote it and even if sales tripled it would only be around 1-2%. honda sells over 50 times more accords than s2k(s). if they could find some way to double accord sales i'm sure someone at honda would wet their pants.
i don't think honda's giving up on the s2k; they're just letting the thing run it's course. i've never worked in the car business, but i gotta think from a manufacturer/dealer perspective that the s2k must be a pain to deal with. if i ever hit 200k miles on my car there's a good possibility i'll downgrade to a much more boring honda product, but maybe i'll think differently when that time comes

I'd say showing it at events like that, It would definitely get some sales, rather then not even showing it at all.

probably at the last minute they try to get loaner cars from dealers and most honda dealers only have one or two s2ks in stock and they're trying to keep them from being thrashed during test drives. but i'm sure they have plenty of civics and accords to spare for an auto race
