Summer tires safe in the rain?

ive daily driven my ap1 with re050 and sumitomos and it does ok in the rain as long as im going slow. just gotta be careful. when its raining hard i get passed up by most cars on the fwy hehe

my first year of owning the S though, i managed to get into a bit of trouble in the rain not knowing that i should respect the car a little bit more under wet conditions. this includes not getting into the vtec range in any of the earlier gears if it's really wet, even on a straightaway.

I drove on tires that were at and beyond the wear bars and had no issues. You must drive for the conditions at hand and the condition of your tires.
I only did this to see how the car is with very low treaded tires and why so many people say "I wasn't doing anything and the car just spun out"
All I can say is drive for conditions and the car won't magically try to kill you.
Silica will determine the amount of wet traction available and tread design will determine the water dispersing ability.
Any tire will work in the rain if you drive safe, better tires will help in situations where you may not be paying attention or following to closely or making an evasive maneuver to avoid an accident.
