This actually happens quite a lot on group drives. I am amazed someone with an AWD car would drive dangerous enough to lose her like that on a public road.
I have seen some NASTY accidents on group drives and this is why I don't participate on group drives anymore. They are inherently dangerous

i swear even this post wont keep people off the canyons in groups
its only a matter of time..take responsibility into your own hands....

you can still go on group drive. just pick the slow group and be careful.
if I notice that I go too slow and holding up others behind me, I'll pull over. There are always regroup points and as long as you know where they are you're ok.
