You have to be able to use google and weigh more than a hundred pounds. Rick, I think you only meet one of the two requirements.
Kristine meets both cause she's fly like that.

LOL. 3.5 years working at Google has made me the master at searching for anything and everything
I think I tried compressing them myself once (NRG hood dampers) and I wasn't able to do it.
As for the creaking splintering sound, check and see if you over tightened the bolt that connects the damper to the hood. It should be tight, but not like SUPER tight. After I installed my dampers, I open and closed the hood several time to get the dampers to pump a few times since I couldn't compress it myself.

thanks Kristine ~ you're right the force to compress those must be pretty high to hold up the hood at that angle! Once installed the dampers work perfectly.
I found out the splintering sound was using bolts that are not long enough. I bought some at Lowe's and now it's perfect.
I think Tien is supposed to included some longer 10mm bolts but since I got these used the other guy probably forgot to send to me.
wooT!

I don't think they come with bolts, but I had some extra ones lying around in my garage that I used when I installed mine. Makes sense since the black piece that mounts to the hood is a good thickness and w/o longer bolts, makes the oem ones that much shorter and doesn't get the same number of turns when threaded back into the hood.
