capitol honda in san jose had 4 s2000. 1 red one

1 yellow one

1 suped up black

and silver one

if your smart about buying s2000. always ask for about 800 over invoice and go on from there. if they decline, be a bitch and tell them u want at that price, or else u will leave.

i got my civic 01 lx 4dr for less than 15000 even though msrp is around 15000+. i saves a couple of hundred bucks. they even begged me to buy it after i told them 200 over invoice for a civic is too much

Try Tony Martinez at Selma Honda. It's just south of Fresno, California. Tony sold me one at just a hair over MSRP.

$800 over invoice? That is like 2% over cost. Not really a fair deal is it?

It is one thing to sell a many items (read Civic) at 2% or 4% but it is another to sell something like an S2000 at that price.

I am not advocating the thousands of dollars in "Market Pricing" but I still think that sticker is a good price.

A couple of weeks ago Canyon Honda had a couple of Yellow S2000's on their floors although I don't recall the price levels.

taylor01,

Don't forget that honda give them dealer hold backs of aprox. 2% so even if its 2% over cost they really make 4% .

You should be able to get one at MSRP or below no problem... I walked out of several dealers, but left my name and number. They all would call back with an offer matching what I had asked for. Just make sure you stay firm on the price, if you say "I want MSRP", don't let them talk you into dealer options or extended warrenty or anything. You can get all that stuff later for less...

There is not a dealer in town that would say no to MSRP if you walk in ready to buy... (at least not when I was shopping)

Had to amend this... There was one dealer not willing to drop the price that was Las Gatos Honda.. bastards wanted 42K and wouldnt budge.

You are correct. While the percentage on the sale would come closer to 5% you are still talking about a very small margin on the car (assuming that you got the deal to $800.00 over cost)

When you figure that the holdback is already used since very few cars are sold the day that they come off of the truck now it is even less. This isn't always the case, but some dealerships have the cars sitting for sometime. If I am not mistaken the 2% is figured over the length of 90 days to move the car.

Not trying to argue, I just think that if you can't pay the sticker then it is the wrong car for you. That is across the board.

Now, if you are talking about a cash transaction then that thousand or two is very tangible. If you are financing, then you will never notice the thousand dollar difference. Car dealerships count on that!

The big piece of advice that I have...if you are going to finance, go to the bank first and ask what their rates are for you. Then go to the dealership and see what they are going to offer. That is where major money is moved around.

I bought my black s2000 at Capitol Honda a month ago and they seem to have one of the largest stocks of s2000 in the bay area. Christian Wilder was the internet sales agent I went through. I posted the original email correspondence between Christian and I. Every s2000 out of Honda comes with the accessories listed below (CD Changer,Trunk Spoiler,Titanium Shift Knob,Seat Back Pocket,Cargo Net,Front Under Spoiler,Side Strakes and Wheel Locks), no exceptions. Although the quote he gave me over email was $36,478 the price on the car was around $42K (including dealer markup). I spent about 3 hours working the price down to $34,200. Email me if I can be of any assistance. Christian's email is listed below. He is a pretty good guy, not very car salesman like, which is a good thing. I live right by Capitol Honda and I think I saw a yellow one this morning.
