this is a automatic fail for smog. that is why the cat is there in the first place, for emissions. this wouldn't blow black smoke if you are running a stock exhaust and headers.

now it would be a different story if you were running aftermarket headers and exhaust and testpipe.

of course it would smell because there isn't a catalytic converter burning it up.

I had mind for some time with my aftermarket exhaust but i never got smoke. The smell, well its there but it doesnt last long, maybe a sec. you will never notice unless you are trying to pay attention to it. If you put your cat back on you will pass smog.

i dont know how. but one of my fronts got busted. its leaking oil?? its only an 04 and i havent even done any spirited driving
