South Bay S2k advice

South Bay S2k advice
Howdy all.. I'm looking to buy an S2000 in the south bay in a short while. Trying to decided between going for a cheap (2000 or 2001) model with relatively high miles (well, okay, 50k or so) for low price, ie 16-17k range), or jump up to a glass window model, or even lease a brand new one..
I went up to Larry Hopkins honda in Sunnyvale last weekend to check 'em out, and the prick there was treating the car like it was a Ferrari or something, telling me he was too busy to take it out for a test drive, etc. What a PITA. Look, it's not the year 2000 anymore, and S2k's aren't commanding a 5k markup anymore... grr.
Any advice on a good dealer to check out (Stevens Creek, etc?) or where I might be able to compare the 2.2 versus the 2.0, and see if I'd be able to live with either? I'm also cross shopping a 98-ish BMW M roadster; my last car was an M3 and I definitely want a roadster, but not sure how liveable the 4cyl would be day to day. Then again, while it is a daily driver, I don't drive much and it's mostly a toy so I'm not too concerned about noise/harshness/whatever.
Is the stereo on the 2002+ really that much better? Is the plastic window really that bad? I am kinda thinking either way I'll replace the stereo, so maybe I'd be better off buying a 2000 and spending the money to upgrade stuff myself.. I plan on doing lots of top-down driving, so I'm not sure how much I care about the plastic window.
Also, is there an S2000 FAQ anywhere, I can't find one? You know, detailing year-to-year changes, colors, etc. The only thing I really know is that 2000-2001 was the plastic window and crappy stereo, 2002+ had a better stereo, glass window.. and the 2004+ has the new styling refresh (which I kind of like and kind of don't), 17's, 2.2l with more torque and lower redline...
thanks for your help! Maybe if there are any meets coming up I can tag along...

Try Honda of Livermore. I noticed a lot of things there are cheaper then lets say Dublin Honda. Plus its way out there by itself. I go there for OEM parts because most of the time they have them instock and the price is good.
