Internships at the Big 4 are basically to dick around and build relationships with the company and your future fellow workmates.

that's why you get an IT audit position @ big 4 and work significantly less & get paid more
do you have a cisa??? how did u get into IT audit?

when i graduated, i wanted to work for a big 4, but chose to go into internal audit at a foturne 500 company instead because I liked the work hours and it paid similar (meaning dollar per hour is higher). however, i am thinking i need the big 4 on my resume to make more money in the future. so, currently I have a CIA (will be official in october) and am studying for my CPA exams. I have 1 and half years work experience, anyone know if i will start off as a senior if i were to join a big 4???? thanks if anyone knows.

Oh ok. Was curious which accounting position that was.
at 150k, with that backround, its probably a controller position or audit manager/director.

That's cuz you are at KPMG and they allow Interns to get drunk and dick around....

wow, that kinda sucks. i am assuming with the title of staff, i would be getting staff pay?

my dileama is, i want the training and name on my resume, but i dont want to take less money and work more hours... currently, i am getting paid a similar amount to a first year senior (per my discussion with an ex kpmg seniour that left to go to law school) and i expect to make seniour in a year or two at my current job. hmmm, i guess i have things to think about.

i am not sure i want to do accounting/audit all my life tho. Accounting was never my first choice, just something i kind of landed in because i had very limited options after graduating. i got my CIA cuz my boss told me too and it was fairly easy. i am thinking i may scrap my plans for getting a CPA and jsut go to bschool or purse the CFA if i am going to have to start from zero...maybe i am having these thoughts because i am working on a never ending 600 page spreadsheet...

anyone have a vault guide or access to online vault???

nope, gonna worry about my cisa when i get promoted (2 months or 1 more year). a few of my friends took it and i don't think they had major issues with it.

got into IT audit just with an MIS major from SCU. one of the feeder majors into my department sort of like AIS is from SJSU.

having one of the big 4 out of college is in my opinion, one of the best things to put on a resume since it'll almost immediately open so many doors for you when you're done. if you want to go to a big 4, i'd say at least 2 yrs of experience may get you to a senior level position, depending on how much exposure you have.
