I called my insurance agent and I told him everything that happened, and he said he will get back with me by tomorrow. He has to file the report and then see what body shops I can take my car too. I guess its a bad thing since I can only take it to their specific shop and I might not be able to get my door replace.
I will take it to Honda tomorrow anyway and see what their estimate is.

op, i'd say just claim it on insurance and go to a shop that doesnt skimp out on work or use bondo, you'll thank yourself after because imperfections will piss you off.

i thought you were entitled to bring the car to your shop of choice... and that it was illegal for insurance to tell you that you can only bring your car to be repaired at certain shops.

You have the right to repair at any shop of your choice. The insurer cannot force you to repair at a certain shop, if they do, you can report to the dept of insurance and file a complaint. The commissioner will handle it. Don't let bad insurer push you around.

I called my insurance to confirmed and they said I can take it to any shop, but it will all come down to the adjuster. I did take my car to their suggested body shop and guess what they wanted to do, they wanted to bondo the car, and then I asked why can't they replace the panel and they said its not necessary. I wanted to just leave, but I let him finish the paperwork and I said no thanks. 1700.00 for bondo work. Yeah right!
I took my car to Active Auto Body and then I asked them if they can replace the door, but then they told me, you only replace the whole door if the bars are bent or damage, only the outer layer is damaged so replacing the door isn't necessary.
I also saw two S2000 getting body work there. A AP1 silverstone, and AP2 white.

My agent finally made a claim after some bullshit, telling me to go get estimates first. I called and told her can I need a claim number. She told me that it falls under collision, but I said the car was parked and it didn't happen while I was there so how is it collision? She said comprehensive only falls under if a tree falls under your car, but then I said what if someone keys my car or something, does that fall under comprehensive? Then she says that well a car hits you so its collision, but I said I wasn't in it and it wasn't moving it happened parked. So then she said she'll make a claim finally! After hella days, and then she will have the adjuster people call me back and say whether its comprehensive or collision.

update on mine. I called to make a claim and told me same thing: collision. They said comp is only natural occurrences like hail, vandalism, deer hits your car lol. Seems like it'd only happen once in a blue moon and anything else thats car vs car is collision and doesnt matter if you are in the car or not.
I have an appt with the adjuster tomorrow but allready got a shopand estimate. Shop was cool and said he'd eat half my deductible making it only 250 out of my pocket. He estimated a huge amt so if i decide to cash out then it might come out better for me. About rising rates, not sure but ill ask tomorrow. I have Allstate and they do have that accident forgiveness thing so they better not esp when it wasnt my fault.
