Thumbs up Software options for remote accessing a computer?

I need to be able to access a personal/home computer from another personal/home computer. My IT guys have software that does it but they have servers and stuff so I imagine it is very easy. I am trying to go from one home to another... no servers... just ISP to ISP.

What is out there? Anything decent?? It doesn't have to be lightning fast (although it wouldn't hurt)... I just need to see their screen.

Thanks in advance...

Gotomypc.com

Otherwise you can buy a nice firewall and I can set it VPN access on it, but that's a little extreme.

They requiring opening ports on a firewall to get remote access to. They also present a security risk depending if your firewall can limit remote access to it. You don't want every hacker in the world trying to guess your password.

I recommend and use LogMeIn Free to remotely control 4 PCs. The setup was extremely easy as it only requires the installation of their program on the host pc. Remote control is done on remote PCs using web based protocol. No router tinkering is required.

Limitations of the free version are no sound transfer, no direct file transfer (you can however e-mail a file to yourself or drag it to a dropbox folder as a workaround) and no remote printing.

I used this a secondary to log into my client workstations if their thier under budget constraints. you jsut need to make sure its installed on the host server or workstation.

Thanks (and thank you Voodoo for the boba last weekend too!).

What about "PC Anywhere"? It's $200, which sucks, but it looks like it doesn't have to renew (the gotomypc is $180 for one year)? The gotomypc will work for my immediate need... but am looking for the future.

Doing sh!t over the phone sucks ass... I have infinitely more sympathy now for tech support.
