A non oem top is going to run you about 550 bucks from topsonline (bought my glass back one from there) and it comes with the conversion kit. Most of the larger insurance companies will write for used/aftermarket if they;re available, and msot of these companies have a thing that you sign that says you're forgoing the oem parts coverage (which will raise your premiums). In short, sounds like dude wrote u a fair estimate, 900 bucks for labor is about what you'd expect for a bodyshop/trim shop to do it for, dealerships will of course be higher. If you absolutely must take it to the dealership, then your adjuster will have to write it with the dealer's rates since you have the right to choose any shop for the repair work and dealerships don't fall in their labor survey, but be sure that the dealer does the work themselves, otherwise they'll write it for the shop the dealer sublets to.
Unfortunate though, most adjusters don't know how to find aftermarket tops, most just write for a new oem or used.

Got the robbins top, installed it myself which I'll never do again, the materials are oem level, it is really tight so mine is still stretching out a bit, and I still havent installed the pain in the ass screw at the base next to the door and my corners aren't quite on correctly, doesn't leak but bothers me tremendously. I think I'll send it to a trim shop to finish it off and have them redo all teh seals just in case.
Only gripe I had with the robbins top is that on the corners where it mounts onto the frame next to the latches, they're just two piece of fabric ont he corners, the oem is one piece and makes a pocket that goes around the corners, therefore necessitating some kind of glue or tape. Other than that, it's jsut like the oem.
