Mac is correct. There is a fix for this

I had a couple tears forming and once I put these bad boys on, they stopped spreading instantly.
Get them ASAP
I got the material myself from a fabric store and modified paper clips to pin the straps down. My fix was under $4.

Kudo for the DIY. I was always thinking that modifry makes a killing on this item, and this confirms it. Especially since modifry probably buy in bulk.
That being said, I was happy to spend my $20. Not only I support the guy who comes up with all these awesome ideas, but my time going out to fabric shop trying to source all the necessary stuff are worth more than $16 savings. The price of convenience, I guess.

all: thanks for the advice. anyone have a ballpark figure with how much soft top replacements cost?
mac: thanks for the advice...once i figure out whether i'll patch it and leave it as is or replace it, i'll see if i can show again to a meet and get some in person help.
omar: thanks for the pic and thoughts. yeah, every now and then i will talk to gordon jei or nat, but for the most part, i haven't really browsed the forum for a few years now. i'd be really surprised if people remembered me (or my car). btw, where did your friend take his car to get it replaced? i assume bringing it to larry hopkins again for me might help since they were cool with it the first time around..
na3j nitsuj: already called larry hopkins and they said that i'm probably SOL. i'll probably make a few more rounds with other dealerships before contacting my insurance company. either way, it sucks i contemplated a hard top for about 10 seconds after getting the tear, then decided against it because i love top down too much.
vu: should i embark on a bidding war with you? :/
