I repaired a top by sewing the damage together, then used Loctite vinyl adhesive. To get clean lines, mask with painter's tape. The product is clear and will look grayish black when dried on the fabric, but I wanted it darker so I painted it with flat black paint.
To finish it all up and to blend the color a bit more, the top was then treated with 303 protectant.

Dont forget to replace the elasic straps with the modifry straps, that will be the real deal breaker. Without doing that, it will just rip again. I had a hole forming, installed the straps, and the hole did not grow.
