Default soft top and frame question.

I've already seen the conversion topic to just replace the plastic soft top itself, to the soft-top with glass. I'm looking into getting a ap2 '04 soft top and wanted to know has anyone done or seen the conversion with the entire frame, soft top, motors and etc to the ap1 models??

I haven't done the conversion myself since I already had the glass top, but I have replace it before and aside from putting all of the rear plastic trim pieces back together, it wasn't too difficult. I'm not sure if you need to replace the motor or the frame. All you really need to do is add the elastic strips as I recall.

I'm looking to remove the entire frame and soft top off my ap1 and install the ap2 '04 frame/ soft top. Is this possible?

yes, you just take out the ap1 frame and softtop, and drop in the ap2 frame and softtop. There are instructions on s2ki on how to remove the frame from the car. It's a really easy process, takes a few hours. It is significantly easier than retrofitting a glass softop into an 00-01 frame.

not exactly what u want but the process is pretty much the same

read up to remove all the plastic interior pieces. then u should be able to see the frame connect with the chassis about 6 bolts each side for the motors cover then 5 bolts each side for the frame base.

they also sell a kit to modify the ap1 frame since the glass sits differently then the plastic window. but the complete swap would also fix the problem.
