SoCal guy going to be in the Bay this weekend
What's up my fellow S2K'ers,
My name's David. I'm going to be in Norcal (Davis, Berkeley, SF) starting tomorrow to check out some law schools. So is there anything going on, meet-wise? Any regular events or something like that? Alternatively, if anybody could recommend 1) a fairly nice but lesser-known restaurant (~$40/person), and 2) a good Friday or Saturday night club (18+) in the Berkeley area, that'd be great.
Hope to see some of you guys this weekend!
David

There are a couple of places in Berkeley and SF for korean bars:
Berkeley there is "dahng suh sah" on telegraph, on the right side, halfway to oakland. Aka, "porno palace" cuz they have newspapers and pictures all over the walls...which is kinda interesting.
Also in Berkeley is "gahng tong dae ji" or "pig can?" which is a little bit nicer. They're main dish is BBQ pork and beef that you cook over a gas stove on your table. VERY good with some soju and beer
I believe KoKo house is closed now.
You buddy should know all of these places in berkeley if she goes to UCB...all typical hangout places.
In SF there are a couple of places...that range from cheap good food to upscale places. SF offers more variety and sometimes a more mature crowd. On Geary at Japantown is "Arang." It's a restaurant/bar but very small. Good traditional korean food with soju and OB beer.
A couple of blocks away in the heart of Japantown is "Nan" which is more upscale, expensive and totally koreanized bar. But the girls there are so freakin hot...like they were imported from korea or something
A step up is "Rohan" on Arguello and Geary...pretty upscale, mix crowd (not 100% asian) fusion food, soju bar that has mixed drinks catering to non-koreans...so it won't be authentic korean food/drinks. But the interior design is very well thought out and a good place to chillax.
I know some non-korean places but it'll take me forever to list them. hope that helps...I lived in SF and berkeley all my life so I pretty much hung out at all the spots. But I dunno any 18+ clubs around here. I started clubbin when i turned 21 just like a good little boy hahaha
