I have both a TL and an S.
I had the TL for 2 years before getting the S and use the TL as my daily commuter. After getting the S, the TL now feels VERY soft. Don't get me wrong - as a commuter, the TL is great and I still would buy one.
But as a driver, it doesn't have the power nor handling of a G35 or the new 335i, but the interior of the TL is far better than the G35 IMHO - and if you're commuting, that means a lot. Luckily I now have the S for fun and weekend driving. I really think it's a great combo.
If you need a commuter car, I wouldn't hesitate to go the TL/Bike route. If you want a good handling daily driver, I'd get either the NSX or maybe a 335i. Depends on how practical you want to be. But now that I have my S, it's hard to imagine going without it. I've even looking for a second one...
Let me know if you have more questions on the TL.
