Smog with HFC

A question, when you got to the smog shop, did you leave the car idling while you waited? I've been told by customers of mine that that helps heat up the cat more than just driving down the freeway does and that might help burn off some of the hydrocarbons.
I wonder what your numbers would be with one of those guarenteed to pass liquids that are available at your local Kragens... It will be interesting to see what your numbers are with the stock cat though.

I did leave it idling as long as i could, but then i turned the car off for about 3-5 mins when i went inside to give the guy the keys.
I looked at one of those guarenteed to pass things at kragen today but it says that you have to run it for an entire tank and then on your next fill up get the car smogged. and right now my car is on a full tank and my registration is due, so i don't think i have time for that plus im not sure if that would work with a HFC on. but i don't know. looks like i'll have to dig up the oem cat from storage.

Any machine shop should be able to do that for you and there should be some close to you, just look in the phone book.
Otherwide, Keith at Ras-Co should be able to do that no problem. He's in Hayward though...

thanks Chetly but i just got the bolts out with a hammer, i was surprised how easily they came out with a few good whacks. anyways i'll post my smog cert tomorrow for a comparison of stock cat vs berks.

Yea... Just get a test pipe and switch it out for the stock cat come smog day. Bolts on cat will pop out with a few good strikes from a hammer
Btw stores sell cats that are 50 state legal and 49 state(except California) legal. You can guess where a non-carb hfc and test pipes belong.

I had a test pipe on my prelude which sucked when it was n/a but was great with the turbo. N/a it sounded ricey and smelled horrible, but when i was boosted it sounded great and with the tune there wasn't really much of an exhaust smell. but on an na s2000, no way i would run a test pipe since its my dd.
so with the stock cat and some new NGK laser platinum plugs the car passed no problem. Heres the hfc cat smog, and oem cat with new spark plugs smog cert.

84,405 miles. im not sure if previous owners ever replaced the plugs. they look worse in this pic than in person since the contrast is so dark. it was def time for new ones but they looked alright, just brown not black, blue, white, cracked, dented, fouled, or anything.
