Default SIM card for GSM phone

I know some of you travel a lot. I'm going to Hong Kong in October and was wondering where is the best place to get a SIM card for my gsm phone, either online or somewhere here in the bay.

Thanks!

I'm kind of confused. You should already have a sim card in your phone.

I either buy or rent SIM cards at the airport of each country I visit. This way I get low, local rates. If Vodaphone is available I go with them because I have had great luck with their customer service.
If you have a phone from the USA it may not work with the SIMS you get over there even though the phone is called an International model. This is because the phone may be locked to your current carrier's SIMS forcing you to pay their high international roaming rates. My solution to this was to buy a phone in Singapore that is not tied to a carrier. it has paid for itself many times over. You can probably get a similar deal in Hong Kong.

thanks for the info...actually, my phone is subscribed with AT&T, but I have unlocked it so that is will take any SIM card. I'm guessing, like you said, that purchasing a SIM card locally at the airport of your destination will probably be cheaper than ordering one here via the net.

Almost any electronic store in HK will carry prepaid SIM cards. Look for stores such as Fortress or Broadway. Even 7-11s have them. Look to spend about $100 HK for a prepaid SIM card. You can even negotiate at some places. Good luck.
