Is this sign that gear or clutch is going out?
I have over 100k miles on my s2k. And lately I sometime get a high pitch weezing sound when I'm in reverse. However it immediately goes away once I'm off reverse. And I don't experience this in any other gears.
I am still able to go backward, but this sound sometime surfaces until I disengage into either neutral or into 1st gear.
So I'm wondering if anyone on here had experience this before. And whether this means that my clutch or reverse gear is going out from the normal wear and tear, or is it simply just a maintainance issue where a lubrication can make it go away.
Any feedback is appreciated.

what kind of weezing sound?
the gear going out will usually be the synchronizer which will make it more difficult to engage gear or pop out. if you want to troubleshoot it, just do a tranny fluid flush and replace the fluid. if it gets better than you've found part of the problem.
for the clutch, is that the OEM clutch? These clutches are known to last a long time and I guess they're built that way. My silver s2000 grabbed fine at all RPM ranges with 95k on it.
I think what you're hearing is normal and you shouldn't worry about it too much until you're actually unable to engage the gear. I mean there's not exactly anything you can do for the reverse unless if you pull off the tranny

all "reverse" in manual transmissions make a different pitch sound than numerical gears.... bring it by the milpitas meet and see if it is normal compared to the other s2000s.... IMO i think its just the normal sound that all s2000 trannys make...

I had to bring in the RX-8 for a blown tranny. Piece of sh$#$@!# Aisin transmission. Today is the last day on the Warranty too...talk about timing.
