Should I install an CAI now?
Should we put in an AEM cold air intake w/ the by-pass valve now? Seriously, it raining f*ing hard and there are floods everywhere, even on 101 today, it was at least 8 inches in the fast lane. Any chances of hydrolocking the car or anything? Not very safe right? Anybody?

hehe it's up to you man. worrying about hydroplaning on S02s is enough to think about for me. worrying about sucking up some water is just a risk i'd rather not take. plus getting stuck in this rain isn't too cool. it's like el nino style rain right now. floods everywhere (mid-westerners: keep in mind flooding for us Bay Area folks means water is high enough to get your socks wet. )
now's a good time to buy a used CAI tho

i say you wait till the rain stops for a while. for like the last 5 days i've been tripping about my CAI sucking up water on the freeway. there's been some relly deep puddles on the freeway lately. the last thing you want to do is hydrolock your car.

I've heard that you actually lose power with the by-pass valve. I've driven in the rain several times even with the front air duct cut out. Also my car is slammed on kg/mm race springs. Just be sensible and don't go thru any standing water. If you do, take it slow with very light throttle.
Otherwise, get the Mugen intake and break the bank.

AEM Bypass Valve instructions state: "in some circumstances, cause a very minimal reduction in the increase of horsepower given by the CAI system". Installed it few days ago and butt-dyno couldn't tell difference plus who's going to gun it during rainy season anyways. I installed it where upper and lower intake pipes meet midway behind radiator and also closed up side vent opening that I had cut out. Just put back regular silicon hose in that spot when rainy season over. Seen several roads in bay area that are flooded with recent downpour so better safe than sorry.
