So his stock motor lasted 52k(probably less than the clutch)... If the rebuild has the same reliability, it will last another 48k. You now have a car that should get AT LEAST another 100k out of the engine...
As far as switching from an RX-7 to an NSX, you might enjoy the performance of the RX-7 too much to justify that switch.
If you are in school, you probably need something as reliable as possible so you can spend your time on what is important.

i agree w/ jasonw and txs2knoah u need something relieable. i personally think the s2k already distracting enough....now add boost, maintainece, etc. school might not even be an option anymore. i kno its tempting but u gotta look at whts practical.

i understand what you guys mean, but if i were going for practicality, i would get a civic.. i am more performance oriented, and ive had my share of problems with the S2k.. maintenance is not neccesarily a regular routine for my car, but i do often do maintenance on all the friends cars. as Ken might know, all the fellas bring their cars to my house for installs or DIY maintenance.. plus, i dont know if it makes much of a difference, but i have the BMW for daily driving and commuting.. the FD/S2k is for my weekend fun and enjoyment.

I was given the chance for a super clean FD, less than 20k miles on original chassis and motor, but I didn't take the chance since like everyone else said, you are at the mercy of how shes feeling that day. Unless you are rolling in money, rotary doesn't mix well with students.

do what your gut tells you...i was hearing don't buy the NSX but my gut just told me to. The day I went to check out the NSX I was telling myself I was just going to look. But after I saw her it was pretty much a done deal.
If the FD has been a car you've been eyeing ever since the beginning then i say go for it. If it turns out to be a dissapointment then sell it. There are worse mistakes you can make in life other than experimenting on a car.
