selling my s2k, but how much?
Hey guys, I want to selll my s2k, but have no idea what used s2k's are going for now. I can't go with dealer prices because they sell used ones for extremely unrealistic amounts. Kelley blue book doesn't give accurate costs either. So here's the details
2001 Red/black s2k
purchase date: 12/31/00
Current mileage: ~3400
upgrades: stongard (hood, bumper, mirrors, door handle cup, door edge)
The car is always garaged, in good condition. It even still smells new. I paid 32,740+2500 markup = 35,240 in Eugene, Oregon. I only drive it once or twice a month.
So, how much you guys think its worth?
Does anyone want it?

Furthermore, how are you going to market it? interestingly (to me at least) there are still folks that are too foolish, lazy, or uninformed to shop around- I was in SF Honda about 10 days ago and not only do they still have a big time dealer adjustment (on a 2001 model no less!), but the would be buyer, who appeared serious, didn't seem to know that he could get one for MUCH less.
Ask others, but 30k might be a reasonable starting point for your car here- admittedly, i just pulled that figure out of my rear, but I haven't heard of cars in the immediate bay area selling for less than MSRP. You could also check some of the internet prices by putting in proxy bids and seeing how readily they are accepted.
Good luck.
Why ARE you selling?

Funny, I just met some guy at a gas station in El Dorado Hills, he is looking for a RED S2K. I told him to come to this site and see if anyone is selling one. Hopefully he will see this post. Sorry I didnt get his name or anything.

Funny, I just met a guy outside Kassabian Motors in Dublin that is looking for a red S2000. I spent about half an hour talking about mine. His biggest concern was that he had heard of engine problems due to the high redline. I tried to reassure him that serious engine problems don't seem to be any more common than with other cars.
I mentioned this list and hope he checks here. I think he wanted a new one, but yours sounds close enough.
Oh, you wanted advice on the price, didn't you. From what I've seen it should go for between $29K and $30K.

the easiest way to check out prices for used cars....
1. check the kelley blue book or used car prices (of course these are only reference prices)
2. check for yahoo! classified ads for comparison (this is how i sold two cars in the last two months)
3. give a little room for negotiations unless you state that your price is firm
you should still keep your car unless you really must sell it. you could never sell the car for above msrp and you lose the money you've paid for taxes immediately when you sell. i've thought about selling my yellow S2K to get a really nice NSX-T, but the loss would be too great. (around $8k gone and i've only had the car for around 5 months)
just my two cents......
