second gear is hard to shift in
hello
my car is 05 with 72k miles with original clutch.
The problem is the second gear is really hard to shift in. Often times i can only shift half way in, and then it pops right back. some times it just grinds. It's been going on for a while and it really annoys me and now it's happens a lot more frequently.
could this be a transmission issues or cause by clutch?
Much Appreciate it.

transmission issue that's more common on 04-05's in particular in my experience.
try flushing the transmission fluid first or going with a new formula (GM synchromesh for example) and seeing if that's a satisfactory fix.
then beyond that, what you can do aside from replacing the transmission is to learn to drive it around the grinds. If you shift slowly while playing with the clutch input, you can make it not grind (but keep in mind you won't be shifting fast), and you can double clutch to avoid that grind. I'll also bet that you're experiencing these grinds on colder starts and it probably gets better when warm

see if your car qualifies for "pop out of gear" technical service bulletin fix. if so, get a honda dealer to fix the issue for free
otherwise the usual remedy is:
- replace transmission fluid with honda mtf
- change clutch fluid
- lube clutch fork

pretty sure I read somewhere in "under the hood" that said one possible fix was to force it in gear while driving with a warm gearbox.
