Sears Point January 2-3rd Weather update

Hi all. Just a weather update for everyone interested. The latest forecasts show rain the Tuesday before the event, with Wed, Thurs, and Friday being dry. This gives the track a day to dry out, and gives us two great, cool weather track days at this amazing track. If you've been sitting on the fence waiting to see the forecasts, the time to signup has come! This may be the last opportunity to run Sears for only $150!

Also, this event is going to be WIDE open with loads of clean laps. Because of the low attendance, walk-ons are going to accepted at no additional charge.

You don't want to miss this chance to run Sears Point at such a great price with so little traffic.

The current weather at http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/USCA1076_f.html shows:

Tuesday: Rain early...then remaining cloudy with showers in the afternoon. High 56F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.

Tuesday night: Some clouds for the evening then clouds will dominate overnight. Low 37F. Winds light and variable.

Wednesday: More clouds than sun. Highs in the mid 50s and lows in the mid 30s.

Thursday: Overcast. Highs in the upper 50s and lows in the low 40s.

Friday: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the upper 30s.

For information about the track and the event, see http://www.speedventures.net/1-2-2003_event.asp

To register for the event, goto https://www.speedventures.net/event_select.asp (secure signup) or http://www.speedventures.net/event_select.asp?ST=NE (non-secure signup).

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you at the track!

I was there during the storm last week when it was pouring. The track dries up very quickly after it stops raining. We were back on slicks an hour after the rain stopped...

I'm *really* itching to goto this event, after reading Doug's stories on nsx-files.

I've never actually experienced oversteer (or even understeer) in Real Life yet, and I'm quite intimidated by the stories (and videos) of s2k's flying off cliffs and hitting telephone poles.

Do you guys think I should take a performance driving school before I try going to the track? I know there will instructors there, but I really would like to have experience correcting a slide in a controlled enviornment before I risk damaging my life or car.

thanks.
