Haha, Santa Cruz and Cafe Brasil seems like it's becoming a tradition, nice!

Way too far in advance for me to say yes, as of now I'll say maybe (summer is super tight at work for me).

I just drove to Santa Cruz and back today and took a few roads I used to drive a lot but haven't in a while. In case you guys wanted something a bit different I would really recommend taking empire grade up from Santa Cruz and then cutting across Felton Empire Rd to get on to the 9 in Felton (or alternatively take Hwy 1 north to Bonny Doon Rd, and across Ice Cream Grade over to Felton Empire Rd to the 9 (Ice Cream Grade didn't use to be the best paved road but it seems like they've redone it recently and it was pretty decent today). These roads don't have much traffic and are really beautiful..and would get you out of Santa Cruz avoiding all the traffic at the beginning of the 9 (and you could continue with your plan of taking 236 as scheduled once you get further up the 9). Damn, I want to get out and drive again now!

Will confirm whether I can make it closer to the trip date.

Hope you'll make it.

We are taking Empire Grade Road.
