You're going to need more than a few days to eat in SF. IMO SF has the best food next to New Orleans.

If you want impress the socks off someone, I'd go here.

I personally didn't like Aqua. Too loud, and food was just eh.

Still great food but easier on the wallet.

French Laundry, Gary Danko, Manresa is worth the drive. . . and yes, Aqua.

Very good food (if you like souffles and salads) and quite romantic, but it takes a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. Plan on at least 2-3 hours. Plus a lot of wine while waiting.

I totally agree with all of this plus, Chez Papa in Portero hills for french food. Just please stay away from all the touristy places in North beach (ie, steps of rome, stinking rose); However, North beach is a good place to get Tortas at 3am, I think I remember seeing it twice that night.
