^^^really? I never knew that.
I showed up at the JDM Theory thing years ago in the lower parking lot, and was told to park in the middle. Next thing I know my POS was in the middle of the show or whatever and people were looking under my car and shit.

the main events from jdmtheory like cherry blossom festival, or the annual show like the one we are setting up for. they have to pay for the parking/venue. so that's why they just ask for a small fee from everyone displaying.

I remember that event, that one was a free event, just like the toys for tots we had not too long ago.

So what does the $40 cover? Are the leftovers going to be used to cover the cost of hotties coming over to spread their legs or something?
I don't know. I dunno anything about running a "car show" or anything, so whatever.

Renting part of the garage is probably more expensive than just having one car take up one spot... especially if the event coordinators are using the venue's electricity for sound systems and the like... perhaps they want to hire security personnel to make sure nobody gets out of hand... and then the cost of hiring people to clean up after the event? Those are just a few of the things I can think of offhand... that might be covered by the entry fee.
