Reminds me of the Oakland Hills fire of 1991. My prayers are with all the families in the area.
I don't understand why it took an hour and a half for PG&E to actually identify it was their gas pipeline and turn off the gas.

According to the radio news. PG&E was on scene quickly and was working with emergency crews to determine the location and then they had to slowly shut it down as they cannot just shut it quickly for some safety issues.
You know this kind of thing can happen anywhere so those of you with families should have a catastrophe plan, just in case...you know, meeting spots etc... not just for this type of thing but earthquakes etc too.
Hoping the 2 fatalities reported is all, though I would not want o suffer massive burns either... prayers to them all.

I had to jet to my friend's house earlier through the backroads (lives up on skyline) and I helped my friend's dad evacuate the house. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this devastating event.
