Default Safe to get stereo installed at Best Buy?

I searched around here and it seems people generally have negative impressions about Best Buy doing stereo installations.

However, I just want to get a cheap $100-$150 head unit installed and that's it (just so I get a front AUX input for my iPod). Can I just buy the head unit at best buy or circuit city and have them install it (it's free)....or do I really need to take it to a specialty shop?

i've got a friend who works at the best buy in santana row as an installer and i'd trust him to do my stuff. unfortunately, when i asked him when the time comes for me to buy a deck, whether i can request him, he said that i can, but the other installers may take offense.

personally, if it's free and it's backed up by a big name company, then i'd say go for it? call me naiive but to me, the worst that can happen is that they mess up, then you take it back and they'll fix it.

^ I agree. I bought a stereo from Circuit City for my bf and there have been no problems whatsoever. If you're not looking for an elaborate setup, it's nice to know that the install is backed up by a big-name company.

DIY

Go to www.crutchfield.com to get an idea on how-to. They have plenty of audio install guides there.

i would do it myself but i've really never done a stereo install before and really don't want my first one to be on my S2000

plus I don't really wanna buy all the solder or crimping tools and i don't even know how to solder wires as;lfkjdasklfjsk;ldjfalfj

but then again, i may still do less damage than someone at Best Buy or Circuit City.....hmmmmmm

It's so damn easy to install those deck. Now if it were other stuff maybe I would be a little bit worry. But it's a deck, those fool don't get hired if they can't even do the basic. I can do it in 10 minutes. Make me realize how fast it is for someone to jack it too. So i'll stick to stock stereo with AUX out put for my iPod.
