Staying in a cabin and ski the next day will be a good outing however it won't be that practical for holiday party. It limits how many people can join due to the expenses related to the trip and also not everyone like to ski/snowboard.

...can also cross country, snow shoes, snow-mobile, sledding/intertubing, or just sip hot chocolate, make snow angels and throw snow balls...

High $$$$...definitely understand.
