Please let me make a positive suggestion in the middle of all this controversy. I don't know how formally the Bay Area s2k club is structured, and I don't have an s2k club in my area to compare it with, but I do have an active local Mercedes Benz Club of America chapter as an example. The MB Club chapter has elected officers and directors, each with an assigned task. Mine is membership chairman. part of my duties is to identify new guests at each meeting or event, greet them, learn a little about their car and their interests, and introduce them to members with similar cars/interests. Yes, I do encounter an asshole now and then who just doesn't want to be bothered, but 95% of the new guests really take to this approach and feel welcome.
When I recently met with my nearest s2k club which is 100 miles away, I could see that they didn't have the formal organization of my local MB club. No membership chairman. (Perhaps the Bay Area and other s2k clubs are formally organized, but this one isn't.) No problem. I merely did my "membership chairman" thing in reverse, by talking to the members about their cars, and their specific interests regarding them. Didn't take long for me to find several members who "spoke my language" about the car, and we had a great time. And I learned a bunch of new "tricks" which is (after all) what attending a car club meeting is all about.

Great. and glad to have made a suggestion to help out. I'd personally really like to help out on this one, but your club meets 2000 miles away from where I now live! But hell, I'm looking for a new part of the country to live in, used to live in Northern California, liked it, so you guys just might be seeing me around.
Thanks,
Richard

Your lack of social skills can't be blamed onto others... you really can't expect people to become buddy buddy with you the first time you meet them, welcome to the real world.
I moved up to the bay area last year from SoCal and the S2ki crew went from complete strangers to family.

Manso,
Thank you for serving our country. I greatly appreciate it.
What did you expect by calling us snobs along with other things?
I don't say anything here that I wouldn't say to someones face, you can't expect people to be like you.
