Well, I suppose it had to happen sometime. Last night, my tires and soft top were slashed by a kind fellow and/or fellows. It was parked at home in the Sunset district.

I'm certain it was a random event, but I thought that owners living in the area should know anyway.

Haters indeed. They left a pair of gold-rimmed Ray Bans on my trunk...whatever the hell that means.

Insurance will likely cover everything, though I'd rather not pay the deductible. A hardtop wouldn't be a bad idea, but for now I'm just going to have the soft top replaced.

Did you touch them? If not police might lift a set of finger prints off them.

Sorry to hear, this has just got to be the worst way to find your car in the morning! Good luck getting sorted out!

I had the same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago. Someone sliced my top and stole a pair of sunglasses out of my car. (what's interesting here, is that they were a pair of ray ban glasses, not gold rimmed though).

The cops won't waste their time to lift prints off the car. If you think about it, the car is in a public area, so there could be lots of people that may put their prints on the car. How could you prove that any particular print was the one that did the crime. Also, it would cost money for the crime lab to go and actually take the prints off the car, it's not worth it to them.

Sorry to hear your bad news. Sunset is the main target in SF. I used to live on 44th and Ortega and my accord was stolen and striped to the bone. Try to park in the garage, cuz I didn't have access to garage when I lived there. I feel you man.. Time for the hard top!

That happened to me in SJ too, I feel your pain... Insurance will cover it. I had my comp. deductible lowered from $500 to $100 and it only raised my monthly about $10 bucks.

It took them about a week to get it all done. I think it only took a couple of days to actually install, the rest was waiting for the parts (roof).
