I know what you mean...the motor is hard to see under all that plastic stuff they used to dress up the engine bay.
As for the appearance of the Rx8...
The car doesn't look anything like a S2000 and I mean it.
In magazines I think the front facia and rear lights did appear to have smilar design cues and details, but as I first approached the RX8 I could immediatly tell that the profile of the car was much bigger than the S. The fender flares are very very extreme and the proportions of the vehicle is like nothing I have seen before. The car is new and definatly unique. Just not my taste. However, the interior....woooo something to drool upon. Very modern, clever, ergonomic and well though out.

I take back what i said before =) Rx8 actually looks pretty nice in person, I was driving on highway 9 like i usually do, and saw one pass by, tried to U turn (sorta Illegally ^_^*) to catch up but I think he turned off or I didnt go fast enough.
Was a black one. Not too bad except I hate the mazda emblem cus it just reeks of Miata -_-*

I haven't seen one since January at the LA Auto Show. I thought the treatment of the C pillar and side window was particularly awkward. I do like the overall concept (2+2 seating) but in general I am unmoved. Laugh my A$$ off to see dumbsh&t Mazda dealers adding a markup but par for the course. Nobody should pay that especially as they are having to give away Protege and even the new 6. Dealers in general have no scruples or shame.
