WOW! Gilcwong and I just went to Sears Point and took the Performance Driving course. For those of you who want to feel your car pushed to the limit by experienced racecar drivers and then get a chance top drive your S2000 on Sears Point Raceway, THIS IS A MUST!
For $675, we got a full day course where we were constantly supervised and instructed by one intructor per two or four students.
Our day consisted of an early start (8am registration), a quick classroom intro and then onto the emergency avoidance exercises, skid car driving (their car), and a mini autocross in the morning. The instructors took each of our cars and showed us the limit of the vehicles and then let us go at each exercise
After a wonderful lunch at a local winery (no tasting wine allowed) we returned to do 3 hours on the actual raceway. Wow what a challenging drive! For this portion, we were two drivers to one instructor. Both Gilcwong and I ended up with Tyler, a racecar driver who raced in Britain last year and boy did he show me the limit of my car! Around turn 6, he brounght my car up to speeds in excess of 65 mph and exited the turn at nearly 90! I could barely bring myself to get up to 50 for most of that turn exiting at around 73-75.
They go into shifting and braking technique as well as an intro to heel-toe, but ultimately, they stress the importance of driving within your comfort zone and having fun. We drove some 75 miles on the track in the afternoon and I am a little tired (and sunburned). But, you cannot wipe this grin off my face!!!
Anyways, I am reporting this becase I had promosed to do so after taking the course. It was well worth the time off and the money!

I think they hold it twice a month, always on a weekday. We stayed up in Sonoma Sunday night after taking an amazing no-traffic drive from Napa to Sonoma via Mt Veeder Rd and Trinity Road over Mt Veeder. (we all gotta go up there for that drive!) That made the 8am start more palletable.
http://www.russellracing.com had info. I also have an extra set of info and videotape that I can try and bring to you at the lunch this week. The instructors will have a blst driving your car! Our S2000's were probnably the best track cars there for our class, although the there were two E55's that really looked good despite their size.

Does anybody know how Russell Racing compares to Track Time(www.tracktime.com)? Track Time offers a 2-day course that is $650. Anyway, I was wondering if people had any experience or heard anything about Track Time and how it is relative to Russell. Thanks.
