Renting a Sports car in SF
I'm planning a trip in mid October and wanted to rent something fun to drive down PCH to Socal. We're going to be bringing two sets of golf clubs and about a weeks worth of luggage so a S2000 etc is too small. Something like a M3, 135i etc would be great.
Does anyone know of any rental places with reasonable rates? There was a place coolcarssb.com that looked promising but they are no longer renting cars so I'm still looking.

The last one claims to have an m5 but thats about as close as I could find to what you listed. It seems to be easy to rent a boring car or a car way over the top like a lambo, but not the middle of the road fun cars like m3's.

The first one might work but for something not as fun like a 328i slushbox. Was trying to spend 500-800 bucks and most of these places are ridiculous wanting 3K to rent a Boxster S for a week. Hell I could buy a used one and turn it back in at Carmax for less than a 3K loss.

Let's not forget this is a luxury rental so I would expect luxury pricing. If you want something cheap you're getting a mustang.

Go to swapalease.com and tell someone you want to borrow the car for the weekend to try it out. They want to get rid of the car anyways...

You can rent a Cayman S for $280/day
Also.. most of these rental companies are just sitting on the cars, wasting away their own money to have them sitting there. Call them and say that price doesn't work for you, and see what they say. Never know 'till you try

Hertz has their premium line which has some pretty sharp rides without getting raped....
No M3's but my friend picked up a sweet C-class for his trip to LA last time when he was supposed to get a crappy mid-size car.
