rent me your beat/extra car
for work i'm going to have to commute about 100 miles/day for about 2.5 to 3 months, so that's about 6000-7000 miles.
i don't want to put 7k miles on my car...so, does anybody have a beater they want to rent me? depending on if work is willing to reimburse me the miles i can probably pay anywhere from $200-500/month.
i won't need it sat/suns
thanks

If you can go as high as $500 a month, just rent a car from Enterprise or Alamo. You can get quite nice new cars for under $150 a week and the super cheap economy cars are quite a bit under that.

Personally, for $1500, I'd just buy a beater.
Look for an old G20 or Sentra or something. I bought a 90 525i for $2000 not too long ago... and I insured it as my primary car so it paid for itself over a couple years in insurance savings. I sold it for $2100 too.

You're probably best off if you can buy a beater then sell it when you're done. The beaters I own all get driven regularly.

Hey. I do a lot of travel for my job where I would need to rent a car for 2-18 months at a time. If your budget is up to $500 and you're not going to get a beater, you can work a deal with Enterprise. Unlimited mileage and use a credit card that covers you for insurance (most credit cards nowadays do).
I usually find a larger Enterprise, such as one close to an airport, and talk directly to the manager. Tell him that you'll need a 30-day rental that you'll be renewing for the next 12 months or so (okay... so you're lying, get over it ). You should be able to get decent 4-door car.
For an added bonus: try to get one that has 5000 miles or so. When you hit 6500, bring the car in and tell them that someone called you to bring the car in because it needed an oil change (again... get over it ). For inconveniencing you, they usually give you the pick of the lot. Be reasonable. You're more likely to go from a Malibu/Grand Am to a Blazer than from an Escort to a Jaguar.
Good luck.
